Background

Since 2006, the Tech Coalition has been uniting leading global tech firms to protect children from online sexual exploitation and abuse.  Relaunched in 2020, the TC is a rapidly growing coalition of over 40 tech companies, including Google, Meta, Amazon, Apple, Microsoft and Sony, that have made a mutual commitment to support and collaborate for the purpose of eradicating online child sexual exploitation and abuse. We have combined forces to accelerate the technological innovations that will keep children safe, facilitate information and knowledge sharing amongst our members, advance meaningful dialogue between industry and the broader child protection community, drive industry transparency and accountability, and fund independent research.

The Role

The Tech Coalition is seeking a Consultant to facilitate discussions and workstreams to develop, curate and deliver the resources and guidance that will enable new and existing TC Members to significantly increase their capacity to combat the online sexual abuse and exploitation of children. The Consultant will work closely with experts from Member Companies and external entities to identify and build out the resources, trainings, and guidance and create the leading set of resources for big and small companies seeking to build their capacity to stop online sexual exploitation and abuse of children. They will also support other programs activities as needed to build industry capacity in combating OCSEA.

Responsibilities:

General

  • Work with the Programs and Member Success team to achieve objectives and key results approved by the Board and the Leadership team.

Member Resources

  • Work with TC members and external experts to achieve the following:
    • Identify and prioritize gaps in current Member Resources;
    • Develop Member Resources that fill those gaps and produce exceptional value for members;
    • Ensure on demand access to Member Resources and delivery at scale
    • Ensure all Member Resources are periodically reviewed and updated

Knowledge Sharing Groups and Workstreams

  • Facilitate working group discussions on specific topics that are top of mind for and prioritized by TC members
    • Lead and drive discussions with TC members
    • Develop Member Resources based on the discussions, ensuring applicability across TC members
    • Communicate with members through various channels and in a timely manner to ensure member satisfaction with outputs

Pathways Consulting

  • Provide consulting to select Pathways participants to address gaps and support them in meeting Tech Coalition membership criteria.

Miscellaneous

  • Facilitate delivery of Webinars and In-Person Events on current issues in child protection and technology that provide significant value to Members and/or Pathways participants;
  • Facilitate peer to peer mentoring with TC members and/or Pathways participants as appropriate.
  • Support communication to members of resources, knowledge sharing groups, etc through various channels and means such as TC member newsletters and member meetings.

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 5 years tech industry experience in Trust and Safety.
  • Previous experience in Child Safety operations and policy.
  • Previous experience in children’s privacy issues preferred.
  • Previous experience in NCMEC or governmental regulatory body preferred, communications/marketing in tech, nonprofit or related industry;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with high-level partners; 
  • Incredible facilitation skills to manage individuals of varying expertise and backgrounds
  • Great project management skills, including time management, goal-setting, multitasking and prioritization;
  • Good data analysis, problem-solving and critical thinking skills;
  • Must be collaborative and nimble, with the ability to thrive as part of a small team.

Location: Remote

Hours: 10-20 hours/week, with some overlap with ET (can be flexible).  October 2024 - April 2025
