Thank you for your interest in the Tech Coalition (“TC”, “we”, “us”, “our”) and for supporting our mission to protect children from online child abuse and exploitation. This Privacy Policy describes how and why we may process your personal information. This includes when you visit www.technologycoalition.org, www.tech-coalition.us.hivebrite.com, and www.mrc.technologycoalition.org (the “Sites”) or otherwise interact with us.  Where applicable, the organization which is the “controller” of your personal information is Tech Coalition.

Personal Information We Collect

TC may collect a variety of personal information from you when you visit or use our Sites or otherwise, including:

  • Contact information that you provide to us, such as name, email address, postal address and phone number.
  • Business-related information that you provide to us, such as the name of the company you are employed by or represent.
  • Login information if you are logging in as, or on behalf of, a member of TC.
  • Information related to the specific designated purpose(s) you indicate, for example whether it be to join our mailing list, initiate media inquiries, or respond to administrative questions.
  • Other information you choose to provide us, such as through communications with us.

When you visit our Sites, we may also collect certain information automatically, such as the specific pages you visit and actions you take while visiting the Sites or using services, the date and time of access, the IP address from which you are connecting to the internet, and the browser software and operating system you are using. Our Sites and services may also contain web beacons and may store small text files (“cookies”) on your device. We also use various analytics tools to collect and process personal information, including Google Analytics, which has its own privacy policy and opt-out features described at www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/. We use this personal information to enhance the user experience and improve our services. You can switch cookies and Google Analytics off if you prefer; these settings can be found in your internet browser’s privacy settings. However, by continuing to use our Sites without changing settings, you are agreeing to our use of Google Analytics and cookies. Our Sites are not designed to respond to Do Not Track signals.

How We Use The Information We Collect

We may use the personal information we obtain about you for several purposes, including to:

  • Manage and administer your current or prospective relationship with us, including a current or potential membership.
  • Manage and administer our marketing and promotional efforts.

When processing your personal information for the purposes listed, we will do so if it is necessary to perform the contract we have in place with you or to enter into a contract with you, where it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject, including to respond to a government request, or if you have given us your consent.  We may also have a legitimate interest in processing your personal information, such as pursuing our mission, including operating our Sites, ensuring the safety and security of our Sites, systems, property, and personnel, sending you necessary communications, and preparing ourselves to establish or exercise any legal claim, or defend any claim, when such are interests are not overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental, unlawful, or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use.

How We Share Your Information

We may share your personal information if required to do so for the purposes described in this policy.  This may include sharing your personal information with service providers that perform services on our behalf or support us in providing our services, such as IT service providers, analytics providers, hosting providers, travel providers, and our advisers.  In addition, we may disclose personal information about you if we are required or permitted to do so by law or legal process, for example, due to a court order or a request from a law enforcement agency, or in connection with an investigation of suspected or actual fraudulent or other illegal activity.

When sharing your personal information, it may be transferred to recipients in countries other than the country in which you are located.  When doing so, we will comply with all applicable legal requirements to provide adequate protection for the transferred information, including implementing additional protective measures such as contractual provisions with recipients.

Retention of Information

We will keep your personal information for the duration of our relationship with you, and a reasonable period thereafter as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above or as required by law.  Retention periods may be extended if we are required to preserve your personal information in connection with litigation, investigations, or proceedings, or if a longer retention period is required or permitted by applicable law.

Depending on your location and applicable data protection laws, you may have certain rights to your personal information.  For example, in some circumstances, you may have the right to:

  • Request access to personal information we maintain about you.
  • Request correction of incomplete or inaccurate personal information that we hold about you.
  • Request erasure of personal information we maintain about you.
  • Object to processing of your personal information.
  • Request the restriction of processing of your personal information.
  • Request the transfer of your personal information to another party.
  • Not be subject to automated decision-making.
  • Withdraw your consent where you may have provided your consent to the processing of your personal information for a specific purpose.

Child Protection

Our Sites are intended for general audiences and are not directed to children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child under the age of 18 has entered personal information on our Sites without your consent, you may alert us at [email protected] and we will take the appropriate steps to delete the information.

Third-Party Websites

This privacy policy does not apply to third-party websites. Our Sites may contain links to other websites that are not controlled by TC such as Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn. Please review the privacy policy of such other websites.

Changes to this Policy

We may make changes to this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post a notice on our Sites to notify you of significant changes to our Privacy Policy and indicate in the “Effective Date” at the top of the Privacy Policy when it was most recently updated. Any changes will become effective when we post a revised version of this Privacy Policy on our Sites. Your use of our Sites is subject to the terms in the version of this Privacy Policy that is posted on our Sites at the time of your visit. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to remain informed about how we are protecting and processing your personal information.
